Professor Manuel Maynar participates as a speaker at the TEDxLaLaguna event, held in the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, talking about the effects of the increase in life expectancy, which give rise to the fourth space.
TED is a non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination of ideas, usually in the form of short talks (18 minutes or less). It began in 1984 as a conference in which Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and currently covers almost all subjects – from science to business or global problems – in more than 100 languages. It is an annual event that brings together some of the most important thinkers and entrepreneurs in the world such as: Bill Gates, Frank Gehry, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.
TED has created a program called TEDx, which consists of local conferences organized independently, which combine the viewing of TEDTalks videos with live presentations that allow to enjoy in different countries of the world an experience similar to the TED conferences, which they provide the TEDx programs with the general guidelines for organizing such events but they are presented in a totally independent and voluntary manner.
